Meeting Report - Thursday 3rd February 2005

Full house – 14 drivers attended. This was a crackin night. I though the last meeting was a little quiet, but this one certainly wasn’t. Big J and Pete were in attendance, but couldn’t race – they had just missed out on a booking. Welcome back to Chaddy– he had missed a couple of meetings, and it was great to have him back. He was in fine form all night! Welcome also to Jane #33, Gary other half, who has been racing a lot more recently.

Heat 1 – well it was actually Heat 2. Chris 24 was running late so we ran heat 2 first 9as he wasn’t in heat1) – complicated!!! Anyway on to the race! Nige took an early lead in this one, followed by Gary, who was racing his new car (well 2nd hand DS racing special). Cath also started well and scored a maximum on lane 1. Chaddy was struggling, but having fun! Dunc was also quiet in this one, he was racing the lightweight special, and seemed to be getting legged up a bit. By half way Nigel had a good lead, but had finished all of his lanes. He had got 27 points, maybe not enough for a place in the final. On the inner lanes Gary was flying, he took the bit between his teeth and scored well. I also scored ok, but caught Jane a few times and came off worse! I was only trying to pass on the inside Guv! At the end of the race Gary took a strong win with 40 points, I took 2nd with 34. Cath took 3rd, followed by Nige, Dunc, Jane and Chaddy.

Heat 2. or was this heat 1! Anyway Hill made the most of her yellow top status and took an early lead lane 1. Chris 24, Y Jon and Geoff had a quieter start and did leg each other up a bit. Y Jon got his head together and drove his caravan around the chaos, he scored 11 points on lane 4. Maybe he was thinking about the track championship! Hil finished her lanes with 23 points, would this be enough to get through? Kirky and Richard had a good battle – some great bumper work from them both, Geoff got a little caught up in and got some front end damage. Chris 15 was racing his Albanian washing machine, but it was flying. He won a pile of races and was right up there by half way. However Y Jon wanted the win, it was close between Y Jon and Chris 15, but in the end Y Jon took it by 1 point. Chris 24 took 3rd, followed by Hil, Kirky, Richard and Geoff.

Consolation action with Chris and Cath.

Consi time. 10 drivers were fighting for 2 places. This one was going to be a good race. There was a lot of action in this race with a lot of bumper work. Scores were low in the first half of the race, but Hil and Cath had made the best starts. The 2nd half of the race saw some higher scores. Geoff had repaired his car and was using his experience to pick up the points. Dunc had swapped cars and looked a lot better, he also used his experience to score well. Chris 24 was enjoying starting at yellow, and when he could get away (and stay on) was winning races. In the end Dunc took the win with 31 points, followed by Chris 24 with 25 points, geoff was just 3 points behind. The rest had scores below 20 – this was a hard race.

More consolation action.

Final time - I missed the start of this race, but there was fun and games from the start. Infact I missed a cracker of a move. Chris 15, caught Gary's back wheel, he was launched on to the top rope of the fence, he bounced up – towards Kirky's face, luckily he didn’t hit Kirky. Chris15 then dropped down to earth with a massive crack! I wish I had seen that, I have never known that to happen. The car was ok, and more importantly than that so was Kirky. Just a bit stunned that a car had done that! In the race, Y Jon made the most of his inner lane start, he took 4 wins. Gary and Chris 15 struggled and didn’t score well. Dunc was on next and showed he was up for this one. He took all the wins on lane one, this put him right in to the mix. I started badly on lane 1 and suffered from some big hits from Dunc's front bumper. Dunc also took 4 wins on lane2. By half way Dunc had a massive lead, he struggled a bit more on the outer lanes but had done enough for the win. Chris 24 took a good 2nd, he could have caught Dunc, but he had a poor last lane. I took 3rd, followed by Y Jon, Chris 15 and Gary.
A great race. Well done Dunc.

Final action with Y Jon, Chris, Gary and fielders hand.

GN – I will be honest – I didn’t see a lot of this race. However the bits I did see were brill. Chris 15 was a bumper mood and took no prisoners. He hit anything he could. Chris 24 suffered, but got his own back with the hit of the night to dispose of Chris 15 and keep going himself for a fine win! As usual the non-finalists made the most of their lap handicap. Geoff was back on form and his car looked a lot better. He took the win followed by Cath and Kirky. The rest made up the numbers, Dunc didn’t do well in this one (not like Dunc) he was having fun at the back of the grid and got stuck in. Richard also got stuck in but didn’t get much for his efforts.

Great meeting guys and gals – lots of laughs and good racing.
The food was brilliant, thanks to my folks.
Chris 24 took the award for best-presented car of 2004, he deserved the award.
I really enjoyed this meeting, I had some great help with the scoring and took a back seat.
I took a few points off Young Jon's lead in the track championship, I don’t think its enough, but we will see, should be good last meeting! GN champ – not seen the points, but I think it will be very close.

Roll on the next meeting – this is the last of the season and I expect it will be cracker!

Keep Smiling – enjoy your racing.
