Meeting Report -Friday 2nd September 2005

Last Meeting of the season here at Denton, where has the time gone?? There was quite a lot up for grabs in this meeting. The Tip Top trophy, the track championship trophy and the Grand National trophy. See picture below. We were also outside for this meeting, the last one I think this year! Least Dunc can use his spotlight graphics!

The meeting started with a whites and yellow heat. We got the privilege of seeing Chris Crewe 15 racing in his own championship, but what is chris doing down at yellow anyway!!!!! (See below)

This was a good race and Chris didn't have it all his own way! Hil gave him a good run for his money, especially when Chris was on the later lanes. Chaddy was doing a great impression of a human calculator, he kept going on about how he had qualified for the final and where he had to finish to do what! Great to have chaddy back! In the end Chris did enough to take the win, ahead of Hil, Jane, Chaddy and Cath.

On to heat 1 - 6 drivers took to this one, including Gary who was off to do a gig later in the evening. Cath took an early lead, she was using Dunc's spare car, Dunc was drawn next to her and couldn't pass her! Gutted! By half way it was between Chaddy and Dunc. Chris and Gary had been having fun using the bumper to good effect. Cath was also doing well in the Dunc spare. Young Jon was having a bad en, his car looked great with its superstar lights, it looked even better as it got darker. However he couldn't get past Chaddy, the curse of passing Chaddy!!! hehe This was a good race and in the end it was Chris who took the win. For 2nd it was down to heat 2nds, and guess what Cath took it ahead of Dunc!

Whites and Yellows race action.
Heat 1 - Winner Chris 15 with promoter.

Heat 2. Another good race which included Pete fresh back from his trip to Northampton for work. Good to see you back. Pete was racing his new car as well, well new to him, he had bought Richards spare car. The car was well sorted and Pete stormed through to take the win. The fight was then for 2nd, this was a good fight. Alan, myself and Hil were all up for the 2nd place, in the end it was Alan that took the 2nd place in the final. Hil had a great race for 3rd, myself for 4th, Jane 5th and Richard, who was having fun but not staying on came in 6th.

Heat 2 -Winner Pete 88 with promoter.

Consi time. The track championship was well open, both myself and Young Jon needed to make the final. However the race was also full of people that wanted to make it too! This was a good en! Jane raced really well and took a well deserved win, it was all down to 2nd, in the end it was down to Jon and Dunc. Dunc snook it on heat wins and took his place in the final. As Young Jon had missed out on the final he couldn't catch myself in the track championship, so I took the track championship before the final. Would you believe that's the first thing I have won in 8 years of RMSCC, saying that you probably do believe it!!!

Line up for part of the consi race.
Consi - Winner Jane 33 with promoter.

Final time. By now we were well under the floodlights, but this was bringing in the Daddy long legs, or Chaddy long longs as Richard called them!!! Back the race, Pete took a great start on the inner lanes, Cath also started well and was finding her feet. However this race was about Mr yellow top, Chris, just mentioning again that Chris is a Yellow top!!! Yes Yellow top!!! He took 32 points in his first 2 lanes, Pete seemed to struggle with traffic on the outer lanes and Chris was away. In the end it was Chris that took the Tip Top Trophy, ahead of Pete and then Dunc, they were tied but Pete had more race wins. Cath took 4th, Jane 5th and Alan 6th. I must mention in this race that Dunc managed to catch Young Jon's finger a treat while he was fielding! A classic moment! Also thanks to my dad for the trophy and for Dunc for mounting and starting off the engraving.

Final - Winner Chris 15 with promoter.

GN time, still a lot up for grabs. It was top 4 point scorers for the GN champ shoot out, and no one was guaranteed a place. This was a crackin race with loads of bumper work and action. There was no caravanning in this one! The non finalists had he advantage, but with all the extra dead cars it was still a lottery! In the end it was Young Jon that stormed this one, just ahead of Richard, he had found his form and this made all the difference in the points. He jumped from 5th to 2nd in the points.

GN - Winner Jon 91 with promoter.

So on the final race of the night - the GN championship shoot out. It was me on pole, then Richard, Dunc and Hil. Me and Richard racing from blue, the other 2 from red. This was a great race to be in, there were some great hits in this one. I took an early lead, but didn't have it all my own way! Richard caught me a cracker about 2 times, well hit dear sir! In the end it was Dunc that snook the win from Richard and myself and Hil. Dunc retained the excellent trophy that was sponsored by Team Big. Shame they couldn't make this meeting, but Pete presented the trophy to Dunc.

After the meeting Dunc still couldn't believe he had won it and checked back the scores over a brew, he noticed a small error, he had still won, but by just 1 point from me and not Richard. The amended scores are here:

Duncan - 31 points

Jon - 30 points

Richard - 29 points

Hil - 21 points.

Dunc 6 with Denton GN Championship sponsors Team Big.
Track Champion Jon 92 with outgoing champion Jon 91

That wrapped up another great season at Denton. No hassle no messing, just racing and having fun. I wanted to say a massive thanks to ALL racers for making the meetings fun and just taking the hobby for what it is, that's model racing!! May this long continue at Denton!

Thanks to my mum and dad for helping and supplying food, Dunc for all his hard work on the track and to my girlfriend, Rach for putting up with all this in her house!!!

Keep Smiling and enjoy your racing.

JON 92.
