Meeting Report - Sunday 4th June 2006

First outdoor meeting of the season, I'm glad Dunc persuaded me to put the track outside, it was great weather ideal for al fresco racing! We did have the back bedroom prepared, just in case the weather may have turned!

A couple of returning faces, welcome back Dan and Budge. Good to see you guys.

Standard 2 heat and consi format – Heat 1. Young Jon was straight in to this with a faultless start, he stayed out of trouble and drove away from the rest of the field. Budge was finding his feet in the Y Jon spare car. Hardcore was also finding his feet, but he would be back later! Hil and myself were trying to stay out of trouble, however hardcore got me with a cracking hit – told you I would put in the meeting report – unless my webmaster edits it out!!!! In the end it was Y Jon with a fine win, followed by the caravan (that’s me) in 2nd!

Heat 2. - Very open start, Richard, Dan and Chris both started well, but there wasn’t much in it. My dad was causing chaos all meeting, and seemed to get next to Richard an awful lot! Nothing to do with me guv! Dunc made a good start on the inner lanes and him and Richard exchanged some good hits. By Half way it was Dan who was leading the way, in fact he wasn’t caught and took a good win. Dunc claimed 2nd and the last final spot from the heats.

Consi time - This was where Richard looked determined to get in to the final. He took the race by the scruff of its neck and scored strongly throughout. However he wasn’t afraid to use the bumper where he could. (Ask Stu). My dad was also finding his feet – he scored well and looked a lot smoother. Chris changed his car and raced his Andy Smith replica – a great looking car and a credit to the club! It looked good, but didn’t go as well as he wanted though. Richard took the win by quite a way, but there was a fight for 2nd. It was close between Stu and my dad, but Stu had a very strong last lane and took 2nd by 10 points.

Final time. - This was a good race, all the reds tightly bunched up. It was hardcore who made the best start and took the blue top advantage with both hands. He started really well and scored strongly throughout. Dan also raced well, but struggled a little bit on the outer lanes. Me, Richard, Dunc and Y Jon knocked you know what out of ourselves. Richard and Dunc used the bumper most. This was a good race with plenty of bumper work. In the end it was Stu who took a fine win, I think this is his 1st final win??? Dan was 2nd, Richard 3rd. A good en.

GN - These GN are turning in to heats!!! Only kidding. The non finalist made the most of their start advantage. Chris and Hil made good starts. At the back Hardcore was having fun, he was trying to hit most things on the track. Sometimes he did well, others not so well!! He's learning thou! Dan and Dunc both were hitched up and had the gas on, as they caravanned themselves to 2nd and 1st. Young J too, also had the van on tow, he was 3rd. Only kidding fellas!!! 34 points in a GN though!!! hehe

The Caravan and Helter skelter– well I will leave the pics to tell the story!!
Dan score way too many points with the caravans though!!! 21 pints, yes TWENTY ONE points!!!
Richard took the helter skelter for the record.

Well done to all winners, thanks to all racers for another cracking meeting. Thanks to my folks for the food!! mmmmm sausage rolls. Special thanks to Rach – for putting up with us big kids!!!!
Next meeting is in July – where the short track championship rolls in to Denton.

Thanks all.

Keep smiling and enjoy your racing.
